Giving Back to Our Community: The Journey of Feeding the Hungry, Inc.

I, as the pastor of the Hispanic branch of Grace Fellowship Church in West Palm Beach, Florida, ventured into the Casa del Monte mobile home community. What I discovered in my very own neighborhood was a quiet struggle of both body and spirit, a place where 5000 people live; the head of the households is predominantly single working mothers trying to nourish their children amidst poverty.

In 2009, my conviction led me to involve my wife, Kathy and my brother Marco..

We began our endeavor within the modest confines of the mobile home park’s clubhouse, using it as a base to share the teachings of God.

After much contemplation and prayer, our family took a significant step in 2011 by purchasing a double wide trailer, giving birth to Feeding the Hungry, Inc., a nonprofit organization with a clear mission:

“We seek to share the love of Jesus Christ by meeting the physical and spiritual needs of human beings deprived of nourishment and opportunities.”

The impact was swift and transformative. Casa del Monte experienced a revitalization of spirit, with leaders from Palm Beach County Joining hands to contribute to this cause. Donations of food poured in, tutors offered their time for educational classes, and Palm Beach Atlantic University eagerly became a partner. Positive changes rippled through families as parents witnessed the growth and development of their children. Donations of school supplies and uniforms not only fulfilled practical needs but also boosted children’s self-esteem. FtH embraced the timeless wisdom of “teaching a man to fish,” which led to the restoration of family values.

Remarkably, several high school and middle school students achieved the honour roll, marking an inspiring milestone. The scope of our assistance expanded to more than three mobile home parks in West Palm Beach, as we distributed over 20,000 pounds of essential food items weekly – including vegetables, meats, and grains. Generous donations of furniture, household goods, clothing, and appliances further elevated the living standards of these underserved working families.

Today, Feeding the Hungry, Inc. stands as a beacon of hope, providing over 1.2 million pounds of food a year to more than 500 desperate families every week in Palm Beach County. Our efforts are fueled by the support of local markets, growers, and restaurants. As we navigate through challenging times, we remain guided by angels and God’s grace, fervently hoping that more compassionate souls like YOU will join us on this journey towards abundance.

Growth

United Way studies show 18% of Palm Beach County residents, do not know where their next meal will come from.

The above statement is what moved us to begin focusing on serving underrepresented families living at or below poverty lines in several Palm Beach County mobile home communities. The volunteer force of Feeding the Hungry, Inc. provides more than 20,000 lbs. of meat, vegetables, fruit, grains and baked goods to over 500 families in 3 mobile home parks in one week. YOUR assistance in this wave of progress to restore basic human living standards can allow children to eat more nutritiously, raise academic achievement for students and bring dignity to local families. As long as we have food; we turn NO person away.

“Happiness doesn’t result from what we get, but from what we give.”

Americans

Feeding the Hungry, Inc. is proactively addressing the physical needs of our expanding client base, with plans for a 20,000 to 25,000 sq. foot facility. Our focus extends beyond underrepresented families, as many diligent neighbours in Palm Beach County seek our assistance.

Our vision revolves around establishing a Hub, a central destination where food, clothing, essential items, job skills training, and education converge for easy access. Within this space, opportunities abound:

Your involvement in creating this Hub of Gratitude will elevate our impact and empower a brighter future for our community.

I thank Feeding the Hungry because that is the only food I get every week. I have not been able to work for years due to a couple operation on my brain so the food I get every week is a God sent.

I am so glad that Feeding the Hungry has decided to come to our mobile home park in Lake worth to distribute food every Wednesday. Due to my limited income this is a blessing as food has become so expensive.

I would like to thank everyone involved with feeding the Hungry. I can tell that I have been helped so many times. After paying rents, utilities and other bills there was very little money left for food. Feeding the Hungry has been a tremendous help to us.

Feeding the Hungry has helped me and my family in great ways. My daughters and I cook meals and take it to the homeless and whenever I need rice, vegetables, meat, rice, noodles, beverages, etc. I have been able to get it through Feeding the Hungry. They have also helped my family with all types of groceries and even my pets. We are grateful to God for this ministry.

Thank you feeding the Hungry; without your ministry’s help I don’t know how I would have met the need tfor daily meals for my family. I am so grateful that your weekly box of groceries is able to fill the gap needed to put food on the table every day of the week.

I have been a volunteer with feeding the Hungry for the past 9 years. In the beginning it was a very small ministry but it has grown tremendously and we can always use more volunteers. It is such a pleasure to help people who are in need and we do not turn any person away.
